Empire State Building Welcomes Christmas Light and Music Show Series

The Empire StateBuildingis probably the most recognizable landmark in New York City. At 1,454 feet from base to antenna, it soars above its Midtown Manhattan neighborhoods and can be seen from quite a distance. To put it this way, I could still catch a glimpse of its famous façade from my former apartment in the Bronx—almost 200 blocks north of the structure. Now, for the first time ever, the iconic building will welcome a Christmas light and music show. A partnership between Empire State Realty Trust, Inc.and Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, for four nights at 7 p.m. EST—starting today thru Dec. 23—the Empire State Building will display LED tower light shows, synchronized to a mix of classic and modern holiday music, broadcast on Clear Channel New York’s radio station 106.7 Lite fm. Videos of the shows will be posted nightly on the Empire State Building’s YouTube page. And, viewers will have the opportunity to help select the building’s lights for Christmas Eve. The Empire State Building Holiday Light Show Team will review YouTube views, iHeartRadio posts, Facebook comments, Tweets and other social media comments to select the 7 p.m. EST Christmas Eve performance, again with Lite fm. Some of the best places to view the light show are: the Brooklyn Bridge, Bryant Park, The High Line, Hoboken/Jersey City Waterfront, Hudson River Esplanade, Long Island City, Madison Square Park, Tribeca Park, Union Square, Jackson Square and the Williamsburg Waterfront.
