Bacon.

Go ahead—say it out loud.

Bacon.

For many, that entity can be mused about like Maria in the song of the same name from the musical “West Side Story.” However, in addition to that word (bacon) being the most beautiful sound ever heard, it’s also one of the most delicious foods ever tasted. Bacon, in all its salty and fatty goodness, is great for breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts. Put it in everything you eat or eat it as-is—bacon is popular for a reason and that reason is it’s yummy.

For fans of bacon, there is somewhere you can gather to celebrate this wonderful meat—The Great Big Bacon Picnic.

This second annual indoor/outdoor festival focuses solely on bacon that comes from a pig. Said bacon is prepared in various ways served during three sessions over the weekend of September 24-25 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Each 2 1/2-hour session offers unlimited bite-sized samples of bacon foods, as well as local craft beer and spirits. There are over 100 restaurants, chefs, food trucks, distillers, brewers and culinary experts from all over the city to bring picnickers the best bacon experience around. In addition to samples of dishes made with bacon, there will also be a Bacon Bar that serves nine different flavors of bacon.

Tickets are available for each session and can be purchased here. General Admission passes grant access to the unlimited samples of bacon-related eats, as well as the craft beer and spirits. Early Entry tickets allow an extra 30 minutes before General Admission ticketholders get in, as well as private bars and seating areas. VIP passes allow for exclusive tastings, private lounges and bars, a gift bag, free parking and a full hour entry before General Admission. You must be 21+ to attend this event.

The Great Big Bacon Picnic will take place at The Old Pfizer Factory (630 Flushing Ave.), rain or shine. Hosted by Great Big Food Events, 10% of the net proceeds from the picnic will be donated to charities including City Harvest. Brooklyn’s High & Mighty Brass Band will provide live music.
