Minus5 Ice Bar Sizzles with a Brand-New Look and Expanded Lobby

There are plenty of unique things to do in NYC, including grabbing a creative cocktail at a bar completely made of ice—specifically, Minus5 Ice Bar at the New York Hilton Midtown. I journeyed to the popular destination on a balmy summer day a few years ago and can’t wait to go back to see the chilly attraction’s refreshed look.

The 3,000-square-foot venue’s frozen new appearance includes 100 tons of fresh, 100% pure Canadian ice, with museum-quality carvings of NYC landmarks (think the Chrysler Building and Museum of Modern Art) by a team of award-winning ice carvers. The cool new digs also include Broadway-themed décor and a V(Ice)P room inspired by the work of Pop artist Andy Warhol.

Don’t worry about getting cold, as the experience includes the use of a parka or faux fur coat and gloves (to make sure hands stay toasty as you hold the drinkware, which is also made of ice). For a break from the -5° Celsius (23° Fahrenheit) temperature, or before you venture into the ice bar, you can relax in the newly expanded lobby, which boasts comfortable seating and warm lighting. The space is also a great place to host events.
